Culture and Narrative
Interventions

Culture influences what we eat, celebrate, ignore, and defend. Since 2024, One Just World has stepped into those very spaces to ask better questions and present uncomfortable realities that are often accepted as norms.

From Republic Week actions across 16 cities that asked, “Can milk mean beef?”, to Saraswati Puja in 80 West Bengal schools serving plant-based prasad, we work with communities within tradition rather than outside it. We collaborate with spiritual leaders, teachers, youth groups, and storytellers to connect food with animal ethics, climate, and compassion.

Our campaigns for World Population Day, International Youth Day, and World Food Day challenge extractive food systems and invite people to rethink what is considered normal. Over 65,000 people even took our 21-day dairy-free challenge, proving that change does not always begin with policy alone. Sometimes it begins with shifting the narratives that dominate our culture. And sometimes, with the courage to look at the food we consume a little differently.
